Water and Sanitation

This course was designed for people who are interested in important role of water in human society. The lessons will describe the importance of Water Conservation for Sustainable Ecosystem to improve water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). Vital importance of Water could be learned such as better understanding about how water exists, availability, sources and (chemical and physical) properties will be explored. As a part of the lessons, different water treatment processes and technologies will be explained based on the instructor’s on-ground experiences and finally ends with the overview of WASH systems in Myanmar.

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS

No degree or prior experiment required. Students from vocational training schools, undergraduate level, diploma courses who tends to work in WASH sectors are highly recommended.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After completion of this course, participants will be able to

• Investigate the on-ground issues even without strong education background
• Understand how to explore the good water for rural area based on the ecology
• Apply the appropriate technology to get clean and safe water for community depending on the sources of water
• Enhance the healthy life for sustainable living environment with water conservation and ecology

ABOUT INSTRUCTOR

Mr. Khin Maung Win is an Environmental Engineer who has Chemical Engineering background. He has over thirty years’ experience in international and local water and wastewater engineering business and consultation. Over eighteen years teaching experience, he also conducted as a research supervisor at Yangon Technological University and Yangon University.
