Lesson 3 – Disaster Impact and Assessment (part 2)

In this lesson, we discuss some of the potential impacts, along with some examples, of disaster risks and how impacts related to different probabilities (or return periods) are combined into an overall risk metric (average annual damage). Finally, some key knowledge gaps are introduced underscoring the difficulty of working with rare extreme events.
